Normal life?

We awoke Thursday morning to the doctor telling us that we would be going home that day. What a surprise. At children's hospital, everything is based on that day, that few hours. It's amazing how everything works with no absolute plans. I think it is a wonderful way to perform medical intervention- they treat the patient based on the currrent status.
So thursday we worked on packing everything up, trying to get ourselves ready to leave. They let us skip out on the car seat test, which we were very thankful for, the car seat test is where the baby has to sit in a car seat for the duration of what your trip home would be. They monitor the baby the whole time to make sure they can tolerate the trip home safely. Thank goodness we didn't have to do that. Anyways, we grabbed some quick lunch in the cateria, I met with the financial counlelor, and then we were out of there.
We dropped by the Alessi's to pick up all the junk we had accumulated during our two week stay. I was so glad that Diana was home so that she could meet our little boy. Jimmy wasn't home, so we will have to make sure and drop by when we go back in two weeks.  Again, I can't fully describe the generosity the Alessi family showed us in Little Rock.  Holden added another set of grandparents to his family tree!
Holden did well on the ride, I think he liked the vibrations. He cried loudly when first being placed in the seat, but after five minutes, he settled down and went to sleep. I took a quick nap and then Holden woke up to eat. We stopped in Ozark to let him eat and get gas in the car. Within four hours we were home. It was a little late, around 7:30, but we were so happy to be home.
We quickly unloaded everything onto the kitchen counters, and Bryan went to go pick up the dogs from Ann and Gary's. The boys barked at Holden a lot initially, but soon slowed down and smelled and kissed his face. Holden wasn't bothered one bit by the barking.  Good thing he doesn't care if they bark- it will be happening a lot around this house.
Bryan mentioned how excited he was to sleep in a big bed that night! Little did we know that we wouldn't be sleeping much that night. The hours we did sleep, Holden was placed between us and we were sandwiched over on Bryan's side of the bed.  I didn't intend on sleeping this way, but I fell asleep when we were trying to comfort Holden.  Three hours later- Striegler sandwich!
Since being home, I have felt like I have even less time... As I write this I'm trying to move fast, as Holden is scheduled to eat in ten more minutes. My day consists of all the typical things new moms do I'm sure: feeding, pumping, changing diapers, trying to clean some clothes, and then eating a bit myself too. At the hospital, I had far less to do.  And therefore could check email and blog more.
When we left the hospital, Holden's cardiologist has asked us to avoid contact with other people for at least the first two weeks. I apologize for this waiting time, but we want to make sure we do everything we can for this little boy. Any visitors that do drop by are welcome, we just have to follow a look but don't touch policy at this point. Hopefully when we go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks, he will ok more contact. After all, he's adorable and so many people are ready to get there hands on him.
I'm anticipating it may be harder for me to blog as regularly, so I'll direct you to my Facebook page where I try to take a daily picture or to Bryans blog (he's much more on top of it than I am).
