Day 14

Two weeks old! I'm happy and sad about that. I feel like I'm just now getting to do all the mommy things: stare at his little lips while he sleeps, watch him move his toes, smell his yummy baby smell. All in His perfect timing.
Two weeks has allowed me to feel much better. I nearly feel recovered from delivery. I never though about how sore and exhausted I would be after deivery. That was one thing I overlooked. but it was the workout of my life!
Today had some baby steps... We tried eating by mouth today. He had two sessions with the occupational therapist. He took about half of his milk! We were thrilled. It takes some time and some effort on our part to encourage him to eat, but we will get there.
About three hours after his second feeding, he got very fussy and we couldn't calm him. He toof a feeding through the ng tube on that feeding and was very sleepy after that one. I'm assuming he was hungry. He hasn't had anything in his belly since last Sunday. I guess after his first two feedings today, he's caught back on to that again. He likes a full belly feeling.
I was hoping that the md might give us a hint of discharge date today, but no such luck. He just mentioned that the feeding was our goal right now and what determined when we go home.
Eat, holden, eat!
Cord count: a ng tube for feedings, a pic line for a just in case, and his heart lead wires to monitor his heart constantly, and his pulse ox monitor.
His incision is looking great. I will be doing some scar tissue massage to it once we get hone and it is completely healed- it's a little bumpy in a couple of spots. His sores from the tubes and lines are healing, still quite red and inflammed. But all are looking good.

We spoke to Carver's parents today. He is doing well and Moved to another room within the same unit to allow him more space. I think the cobs have such a positive attitude and it is refreshing to speak with them.

Prayer requests:
Holden's pulmonary artery will grow to accommodate his body and normalize the pressure in his heart.
He will continue to progress with taking milk by mouth.
Baby carver will progress and thrive and his little heart will do amazing things.
Carver and Holden will grow old and have full lives... Always being heart buddies!
