6 Months Old

Well, it's here!  Holden will be six months old on Wednesday.  Half a year has gone by since my precious little boy joined our lives.  Everybody says it flies by.  I don't feel like it flew by, it did feel like it had been half a year.  But I am sad that my little man is bigger and will never be as tiny as he once was.  I'm also joyful that he won't be at a developmental stage again where he couldn't communicate, slept awful, and required near constant entertainment.
So let me explain all the wonderful things about Holden as a six month old boy!
Entertainment!  Holden will spend 15-20 minutes rolling around on the living room floor.  Activities include chewing on his feet, rolling to the end's of his world (the couch), touching the objects he runs in to, laughing at the dogs while they do normal dog things, and chewing on his toys.  He may fuss and I just redirect his attention to something else or change his position.  He catches me walking past the room and will yell when he sees me.  He's bonked his head on the leg of his jumper a couple times now and I have quickly swooped in and saved the day!
Language!  What a sweet little voice he has!  He has been experimenting with all kinds of noises.  Blowing raspberries, high pitch squeals, lower toned singing, and near yelling exclamations.  He's also started "talking" with us.  We will repeat what he says and he will do it again at us.
Fingers!  He wants to touch everything.  Christmas trees, remotes, dinner plates, doggie ears and tongues.  Beasley was licking Holden's hand the other night and Holden was desperately trying to grab Beasley's tongue each time it poked out of his mouth.  Obviously Holden was unsuccessful, as his motor control is far slower than Beasley's.  But it was still funny to watch his repeated attempts to get the pink, wet tongue.  He also loves feeling the dog's fur and putting it into his mouth.  I discourage the later as I think it is nasty!

I will once again apologise again for not being a consistent blogger.  I know other moms who write a blog every other day or at least once a week.  I'm not one of those moms.  My purpose in writing is so our family in Oklahoma can peek in on Holden.  That the reason for the excessive videos also!  I will admit our style of parenting is a bit "oatmeal."  I have a desire to raise our little one on a more natural routine.  So I'm quirky and will admit it.
