Eight Months and Moving

Eight Months!

I love this little man more and more each day.
Skills:
His motor development has hit hyper-speed this last week.  Last weekend, he mastered the army crawl.  He could drag his little body, make 180 degree turns, and cooridinate rolling and army crawling.  This weekend, he is pulling his belly across the floor much quicker causing me to loose him on several occasions.  I will leave him playing in the floor and come back a few minutes later and he's gone!  The first two times, I was in panic for about half a second.  Baby-proofing the house will need to happen soon.  He, of course, prefers items and areas that he is not supposed to be playing with.  Holden likes extension cords, outlets, buttons on the DVR, and chewing on shoes.  Which reminds me, I've officially moved to requesting all quests remove their shoes when they come over.  Bryan and I have been doing it for quite a while now.  We went over to a neighbor's Super Bowl party and she had her guests remove their shoes.  This gave me the confidence to do it too.  So excuse my silliness, and please remove your shoes when you come visit Holden.  Don't worry- I'll remind you.
Holden has also been trying to stand up while in the tub.  He will grab hold of the sides and hoist his body up and out of the water.  The tub is the only place that he's tried doing it so far.  Maybe because he's more buoyant in the water?  I think the combination of a new skill and slippery surfaces makes us incredibly anxious.  He hasn't tried pulling to stand anywhere else yet.
Health:
We haven't had any doctor's appointments in quite awhile.  I like staying away from them. But I have no idea how much he weighs.  We won't go again until his 9 month check up in March.  We are trying to find his old pediatrician, Dr. Froman.  If anybody knows where she is practicing, please let me know.
Events:
I toured a private preschool this month.  I'm undecided at this point.  I wasn't completely impressed by the school- so I'm glad that I still feel like I have options and not set on only private schools.  At this school you have to get on the waiting list at birth to obtain a spot in the two year old class.  I'd like to check out some of the local church programs.  I like the idea of Holden getting exposure to faith based curiculum daily.   And I think they will be more likely to let me bring in his lunch and personal care products.
We went to our friend's and neighbor's Super Bowl party.  There were three infants there, one included our wonderful and beautiful Jade!  Holden and Jade are so cute together.  Jade just learned how to sit up!  She wanted to take Holden's socks off so she would grab a hold of them and pull.  Holden would start to tip backwards and Jade would fall to the side.  I enjoyed watching them.  Holden didn't try to poke her in the face this time.  Good job Holden!
Last weekend, we sent Holden to the nursery at church.  Holden has been sitting in the main service with us, but his "singing" and "praising Jesus" during Pastor Casey's sermon is getting a little too distracting for people around us.  So the weekend before, I went by to look at the nursery in order to prepare myself.  The ladies said he did great.  When we picked him up, he was swinging and about to drift off to sleep.  He's such a good sleeper... he just needs his bed.  I didn't listen much to the service because I was watching for Holden's number to come up on the screen.  And after dismisal, I quickly made my way to the nursery.  I had planned on waiting until after the cold season to put him in there, but he really is becoming a distraction.  Fingers crossed on avoiding catching something.  He's done so good so far.  You other mommas will have to give me tips on what to do when your little ones are sick.
