I braved the world and took my first outing with Holden this last weekend. I feel I overcame two major hurdles to make this happen: early morning and just the two of us.
We headed out to Ozark Natural Foods saturday morning. We were meeting Charla there at 8:30am to pick up the organic chicken I had ordered. We buy our meat in bulk to help with the price of organic. Bryan couldn't come with us because he was doing a photo shoot in Bentonville. Anyways, mornings are incredibly difficult for me. Holden typically stays up until midnight then gets up around 4 or 5am. We can then take a nap for about 2 more hours. So, I'm usually working on 6 hours of sleep at this point. But since we had to be there early, I couldn't take that first nap- 4 hours of sleep, here we go! And he has not developed a consistent eating time. Sometimes he will take only 30 minutes to eat, other times it takes a full hour. But we somehow made it out of the door around 8am! Yea us. He screamed in the car seat during the ride until he wore out and fell asleep. Once we arrived, I left him in his seat and loaded it in the cart to take him in. I was worried to wake him because it was getting close to eating time again.
He slept the whole grocery trip, making our first trip out a success. I rushed home and was so relieved to walk back into the house. It my safe zone: I know where everything is, I can feed him at any time, and I can flop onto the couch when he naps! I'm feeling more confident about leaving the house with him. I am still being very careful where I take him. He is precious cargo!

I worry about taking Jade out too. One day, though, I'm sure I'll get cabin fever and will want to get out!
